Victory Christian Fellowship (VCF) Vision
“To know the Lord Jesus Christ and be like Him”
Victory - Jesus is already victorious over the enemy and over death through His Resurrection. We as believers and co-heirs with Him share in this victory. Victorious life is the victory over spiritual death and the capacity to experience victorious living now and forevermore.
Christian – We have been redeemed and are children of God. We are nondenominational and recognize ourselves and other believers as fellow Christians who are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Fellowship – We join together, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves, to encourage one another as we see the Day of the Lord’s return approaching. We are the local Body of believers and part of the universal Body of Christ.
Our vision is derived from Philippians 3:10 – “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;” To know Him is our greatest desire. It is not merely knowing about Him or only having head knowledge about Him but having a close and personal relationship with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. It is our intention to only do those ministries and activities that He tells us to do to advance His Kingdom. In the process, the Holy Spirit will transform us from glory to glory into the image of Jesus.
VCF began its first service as an English-speaking worship service on October 1, 2000 at the invitation of Pastor LEE, Hee Jun, Senior Pastor of Itaewon Methodist Church. The church is situated in the city of Seoul, Korea, in an area called Itaewon, a renowned international shopping district and nightlife scene that is busy during the day and night. It never sleeps. Itaewon has existed for about a hundred years since the Japanese occupation in the early 1900s and through the present stationing of the U.S. military. It is also a place where the international community join together socially and to reside. Surely, the Lord had a plan for VCF to be a light and beacon on the hill that could not be hid.
In Galatians 3:8, the Lord God said to Abraham, “In thee shall all nations be blessed”. Prophetically speaking, I believe VCF will be a place of restoration, learning under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, discipleship, a place where people will be trained to go out and birth new churches and ministries throughout Korea and the world. With its highly transient population, many people merely come for short visits to conduct business ventures or simply do sightseeing and shopping. There are also others who are here for a couple of months or years and of course, the local Korean residents. Literally, people from all corners of the world have walked through the church doors from Europe, North, South and Latin America, Africa, China, Northeast, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Russia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, India, and other countries. As they receive training and are discipled in Godly instructions, they become missionaries for the Lord Jesus Christ and when they return to their homes whether in Korea or to their native countries.
Here is the Word given to me by the Lord and its interpretation: Isaiah 2:2 – And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 – And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. VCF is established on a hill in Itaewon and many people from the various nations will continue to come to worship here. They will also invite others to receive the Word of God and later they will go out to others to share what they have learned at VCF.
I envision a network of Godly relationships and disciples who will be going forth to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Their efforts will all be part of fulfilling the Great Commission. We will all be united together and also empowered by the Holy Spirit with our foundation built exclusively on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God. I envision VCF-Itaewon to be a developer and sender church that will multiply itself by “birthing” new churches in Korea and the world.
In Ezekiel 47:8 - Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
VCF shall be a place of a lot of water (the anointing of the Holy Spirit). Jesus said that out of our bellies “shall flow rivers of living water”. Souls shall be saved, many baptized in the Holy Spirit, and those truly seeking the Lord shall find Him, and for those have gone astray, they shall be restored. There will be times of refreshing for those dry and weary. We will also focus on providing Christian counseling to those who are mentally or emotionally battered by the enemy and the world to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to them to restore their minds and mental health.
I envision a place to be used as a combined Intercessory Prayer and Retreat Center. This place will be somewhere that we can get away from the city confines and earnestly seek the Lord without reservation. This place will be a safe environment for a time of restoration, getting closer to the Lord, seeking His will for our individual lives and the future of this local church. This place will be a place of prayer and fasting where there will be healings and miracles.
Finally, VCF shall be a local Body of Christ where believers will find it simple and safe. The Word of God will be preached in simple terms, reflecting the simplicity in Christ. VCF will also be a safe place where the Word of God will be preached in purity as Christ is pure and believers will be able to be ministered to in a spiritually safe fellowship. Members of VCF will reflect Jesus and be a model role for the corporate Body of believers and to the world.
